
When a decision made by leadership affects certain people negatively, the hope is that the decision has been made with the consequences of that decision in mind and that those unfortunate effects have been thoughtfully overruled by the needs of the greater good. Without being allowed any confidence in that hope, in the faith that decisions are being made with even the simplest principles of intelligence and compassion, the only result can be madness and that which thrives in the presence of madness.
