Sure, bad things are happening, but you can’t let it affect you.
It’s absurd that anyone champions this line of logic.
Instead, maybe allow it to affect you. Allow your compassion and empathy for those bad things to help you make your personal choices and decisions instead of only thinking about yourself all the time. If you’re wondering what’s wrong with the world, it’s that everybody decided they don’t like feeling bad about things, so they pretend they don’t fucking exist. And guess how much attention and consideration problems that don’t exist get.
I know the bullshit response will be, But everything we do is selfish. Yeah, sure, but why not make other people’s struggles part of your own. That way, even when you’re doing selfish things, they still benefit more than just you. It’s called caring, and that’s what we purposely choose not to do.
