People aren’t actually afraid of robotics and AI doing our work for us and taking our jobs. What we’re honestly and rightfully frightened of is that some people are so evil that they would use it to their personal benefit while letting everyone else have nothing, including the means by which to gain something…anything. Somewhere in the back of our minds, we remember watching Scooby Doo, and we realize people are the real monsters. What we truly fear is that work is our only bargaining chip with the ruling class, and once it’s gone, there’ll be no reason for us. It’s a pretty good indicator that things were already swirling down the drain long before technology could make it scary.

I think a fear is AI surpassing our Human genius. Though, I find AI generated art and communication falls flat without the power of Human Intention behind it. Humans are irreplaceable! Enjoyed your article.

Thanks so much! I wish our intelligence as a whole was even close to being debatably genius. I don’t think we’re any less replaceable than any other species, alive or extinct. Nature would thrive in our absence, and machine learning has already surpassed our ability to even program it. I imagine the true fear we have with it is the same as the fear of becoming old and antiquated like so many of the things we so easily disregard because so much of our self worth is dependent on our utility. If nothing else, at least discussing it amongst ourselves is interesting. Conversation is our greatest ally.

I agree on the practicality, though believe human expression is “irreplaceable” comparing AI to the real thing.

And I agree human genius is debatable, and beyond all reason our genius comes from a Higher Source of Consciousness… my personal reality. 🙂
