Re(dis)membered

We always seem to forget that we made up everything. All the rules, governance, money, religions, laws, and justifications that keep people starving, poor, miserable—we invented them. We act as if they’re sacred and cannot be changed— as if they’re above being wrong—as if they’re indisputable—as if we, humans, couldn’t possibly have made mistakes that need correcting, even though our creations have been proven wrong countless times throughout our existence. The bullshit we fabricated a long time ago isn’t any more valid than something we could come up with today. We could literally decide today that it’s all going to be different, change it, and then it would be. But we will not. We will say that it’s impossible—that there’s more to it than that—that that’s just not “how things work,” because we are too stupid and egotistical and, ultimately, self-destructive to remember our mistakes and grow from them.
