Vonnegut was as close to understanding the meaning of life as anyone who has ever existed, though I’m sure that in his own estimation he would say he was farther away from that understanding than anyone could ever calculate. The rest of us are that same exact incalculable distance from being able to fully understand and appreciate Vonnegut. Some of us are lucky enough to have connected to some small part of his shared brilliance, and for that possibility, we are some of the luckiest creatures to have ever lived.
What’s your favorite Vonnegut book or quotation? Let me know in the comments below.
Breakfast of Champions would be my number one, and Welcome to the Monkey House, number two!
