Significance is not dependent on your attention, nor does it require your understanding. Nothing is more or less significant than it was before it was something to someone. If anything ever was, it was ever important and will forever continue to be so. We are a million once seemingly insignificant bits of archaic things from the beginning of time which were disassembled and reassembled and reconstructed again and again until they became the inconceivably different and unrecognizable us. We are comprised of dust from burned out stars and the dead everything which came before us; collections of the spare parts from a once intelligent design.
