Indie Press Call For Submissions

If you have a blog, chances are, you’re a writer. We need writers. Please review the Dead Star Press submissions information and send us your weirdest writing.

FROM THE DEAD STAR PRESS SUBMISSIONS PAGE:

The querying and submissions process is demeaning and generally preposterous. Even using the word “Submit” is a little nauseating. “SUBMIT TO US!” It’s kind of gross, right? We are not interested in anyone kissing anyone’s ass. We just want to read your work. Email your manuscript and any information you’d like us to know about it. If you’d like to include a synopsis, traditional query letter, and a short bio as well, we won’t stop you, but don’t stress about any of that. We only care about your work.

Send your manuscript as a Word attachment or in the body of an email to DEADSTARPRESS@gmail.com If we think what you wrote fits with us, and we think we can help you with it, we will reach out to you as soon as we are able.

Dead Star Press is a very small and limited operation. We have full time jobs and while we do this with the dream of it being profitable someday, we understand that, for now, this is a passion project for everyone on our end. Please temper your expectations accordingly.

    1. Traditional indie publisher. We sign you to a contract and pay you royalties. We don’t pay advances. We charge no fees of any kind, and we do some promotion and marketing. We publish through Ingram Spark so that brick and mortar book sellers can order your books at a discount as well. You can order your own books through us to sell at appearances, and you will pay near cost on all books. We are also highly selective, we will be publishing a very small percent of submissions, just like any other traditional publisher. I hope this answers your questions, but if you have specific questions, I can answer them. Just email deadstarpress@gmail.com

      1. I am working on a sequel to “Spirited One” and will be happy to have you look at it when I get it done. If you like it I can take the original Spirited One-off Amazon to publish them together. Of course that depends on whether you like the first one.

  1. I have a serial novel idea I’ve been working on, one that fits in with your ‘dystopian’ and ‘Literary Social Commentary’ fields. It’s called ‘The Splitting.’ I’m almost finished writing up the second of several books of it (short books, mind you, but I can expand them–that is, develop the characters, subplots, themes, etc.–if you’re interested, but feel they’re too short). They’re all on my blog, ‘Infinite Ocean.’ Please check out all the chapters already published. 🙂
