idGnorance (Freudian Slap Part II)

We ought to be more unlike the things we find appalling, but such is rarely the case.

Our ego used to be the arbiter between our morality, or conscience, and our instinct. We have little morality left, very little conscience, and though our instincts are for shit, they’re now running the show.

Use the same words that you would normally use to defend yourself, your ideas, and your preferences to figure out a way to extend to others the courtesy and understanding you offer yourself. The self-created difficulty of transferring this type of compassion is where all of this is falling apart. We regress into the ignorant id.
