Confirmation Bias can be strong, but it doesn’t match the absolutely cementing validation of Contradiction Bias. When someone vehemently and insultingly disagrees with something totally reasonable that I’ve said on social media, I sometimes investigate their profiles to figure out who I’m dealing with. I almost always find that they’ve alienated everyone in their lives and are frequent sharers of ignorant, misinformed drivel, and I feel a whole lot more satisfied with the conclusions I’ve drawn than when someone or something simply agrees with me.
Sometimes, finding someone who disagrees with you is more validating than finding someone who agrees.
